Did you know what the most popular new years resolution for 2016 is? It is to get healthy! With Aussie's ranked as one of the fattest nations in the world and obesity rates at 'epedemic' numbers I am so happy that so many people are making their health a priority in 2016!
It's almost 2 weeks since New Years and I'm hoping that you are making progress towards your resolutions - especially the ones that are health related. Anything that makes you happy, helps you feel your best and makes you live your life to it's full potential is contributing to your health - your physical, mental and emotional health. Your resolution might be to exercise more, stress less, find more balance between work and family/friends, to start a new career or to eat more nourishing foods. Whatever it may be, I want to support you as you make 2016 your healthiest year so far!
If you haven't started implementing small changes, daily, towards better health I want to tell you a secret. You can start making changes today, right now! You don't need to wait until tomorrow, or Monday, or next week to start. Start right now.
My favourite tip to better health is water! Drink more water. Dehydration causes havoc with our body - headaches, cravings, muscle aches and pains, hunger, poor concentration, slower digestion and even migranes. By drinking more water you will help rehydrate, lubricate your digestive system, reduce hunger and cravings and promote mental clarity and alertness.
I love to start my day with a glass of warm water with a wedge of fresh lemon. I also drink water regularly between meals, throughout the day. Staying hydrated is particularly important during hot summer days, working in air conditioned offices and when drinking caffinated drinks (like tea and coffee) which all dehydrate us more.
If you don't drink much water, start slowly by sipping on water through the day. If you drink too much too quickly you will probably find yourself going to the bathroom... a lot! Ideally try not to drink more than 2-3 litres a day as this can also cause problems. It's true, you can have too much of a good thing as well.
Send me an email and let me know how you feel drinking more water.
Have a great day!
