With Valentines Day in four days time I thought this week would be the perfect opportunity to talk about the importance of relationships and how they impact your health! If you regularly read my blog you will notice that, as a health coach, I consider relationships to be an important part of a healthy life. In fact, I think relationships have even more influence to your health than diet and exercise!
Human beings need connection and relationships. Relationships give us joy, meaning and fullfillment. Have you ever known someone who was on a really strict diet or exercise routine didn't seem healthy or happy? On the other hand, take a look at someone you know who has healthy relationships - who regularly goes out for dinner and drinks with their friends, or to fesitvals or out for coffee. Do they same happier and healthier? They aren't calorie counting or watching what they eat. No, they are connecting, laughing, enjoying fullfilling conversations that enrich their lives.
This Valentines Day, I challenge you to really celebrate and nurture relationships and make them a priority. Show your loved ones that you value them and the positive impact they have on your life. Perhaps you could write a card explaining how they enrich your life and how important they are to you. Weather it be with your lover (boyfriend, husband or partner) or spending time with friends, use Valentines Day to connect and celebrate your relationships. Turn off your phones and spend time without interuption. Look at each other and really listen to what is being said. Don't 'post' your messages of love on Facebook or Twitter - say it to your loved ones! Laugh together and enjoy time together!
Wishing you a wonderful Valentine's Day with your loved ones!
